Marin Motorcycle Quest FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) and Quest descriptions for

(A) The Ride of Your Life Men’s Motorcycle Quest© and

(B) The Father and Son Motorcycle Quest© (at the bottom of the page)

Please find the answers to your logistical questions in numbers (1) through (10)

Then we’ll answer the questions that involve a little more in depth explanation in numbers (10 through (12)

(1) What are we going to do on the trip?

We’re going to ride some of the most beautiful roads in the U.S. together. This is country that people come from hundreds, thousands of miles around to ride through and experience the unique beauty and weather of California.

We’re also going to alternate our riding with time devoted to sessions where we get to know one another. In these sessions we’ll delve into some of the reasons why we were drawn to a quest of this sort.

We’ll also take a look at what’s going on in our lives that needs attention. This will be done among a group of guys where you’ll feel safe in doing so. You won’t have to prove anything or be anybody except yourself.

We’ll get some real insights about where we’re at in our lives and how we got here. We’ll also learn how to make some different, maybe better choices from here on out.

We’ll also take away some valuable tools to use in making those choices down the road.

(2) Where are we going?

The short answer is:

We’ll start out in Novato, thirty miles north of San Francisco, with a pre ride briefing, where we’ll cover safety items and make some introductions. This will take about an hour or so.

Then we ride up through the wine country, through Napa, Lake and Sonoma counties to Calistoga, where we overnight from Thursday night through Saturday morning.

Saturday morning we ride from Calistoga to the Pacific Ocean, via Calistoga Road, River Road, and Bodega Bay. We’ll have an option to stop for a while at Jenner, just north of where the Russian River and the Pacific Ocean converge.

From Jenner we ride south on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay and on to Pt. Reyes for a rest stop.

Then we ride from Pt. Reyes back to Novato where we’ll check into our hotel, The Courtyard Marriott.

Sunday, we’ll leave Novato at 9 a.m. and ride south on Hwy 101, through San Francisco to Skyline Boulevard to Alice’s restaurant, a San Francisco bay area mecca for weekend motorcyclists.

We’ll have brunch on our own at Alices’, hang out, kick some tires and check out some exotic machinery. Then we head down Hwy 84 to the coast where we’ll ride Hwy 1 back to and through San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge to Novato. We’ll our ride in Novato, where we’ll gather up to make sure all the men get to where they need to go, return rental bikes, etc. We’ll also arrange follow up coaching for men who want that. Then we say our goodbyes.

(3) How many miles will I ride?

The Ride of Your Life Quest© is a four day ride. The mileage for the quest will be approximately 370 miles, depending on side jaunts.

We’ll have detailed route maps for all the riders.

(4) How many guys will be going?

The ideal size is 4 to 6 men so we can give as much attention as needed to each man’s life. We expect this quest to fill up quickly due to the unique nature of it.

(5) How much is the trip?

The price for The Ride of Your Life is $1499.00. You can call me to inquire about payment options, or for more information if you don’t find it online.

We also make available smaller, semi private or private quests for those men who want the advantage of riding through more varied country, more in depth coaching and more personalized attention to their lives. If you would like a quest of this nature, please call or email me at the number or email above.

(6) What does the price include?

(a) All quests will include route maps, hotels, breakfast, dinner and group participation. Gas, lunch, drinks, and other amenities will be on you. We can recommend bike rental agencies in the local area or you can ride your own. If you want us to arrange your bike rental, that can be done for an additional cost.

(b) Coaching: Forty-five minutes of personal coaching, either on the quest or after – your choice – is included in the quest package for all riders.

For those men who want to take advantage of more one on one coaching, that will be available also.

(7) Is this quest just for men?

Yes, although we plan on doing couples tours in the near future. We also offer our Father and Son Quest©.

(8) Can men ride two up?

Yes. There will be some pricing differences to reflect this.

(9) What if I’m a new rider? Will I be able to keep up with the other, more experienced riders?

For you to participate on the quest, a moderate level of riding experience is required. For the slower riders, we’ll have staff men riding along who will make sure you are kept safe and on track.

(10) The longer Quest description is:

Our quest will take us up through Napa, Lake, and Sonoma counties. We will be riding through beautiful, scenic, coast range style mountain country combined with some Pacific coast riding. This is some of the best riding country in the United States.

(a) On the first day, Thursday, we’ll ride some beautiful roads together from our starting point in Novato, CA, up through Napa and Lake counties. We’ll end up the first day in Calistoga, CA where we’ll stay in a first class hotel (see additional tour description) with options for mud bath and massage. The hotel, Dr. Wilkinson’s, has beautiful mineral pools for our use.

It’s here that we’ll start our work together. See below for details of our activities in Calistoga and the other activities besides riding.

(b) On Friday morning we start our get acquainted session at the hotel which will take us up to lunch.

Many men will find great value in just being heard by other men and being allowed to be themselves, without judgment or a need to be anybody other than who they are.

During our “classroom” time, we’ll look at the life choices we’ve made and how these choices have moved us forward or kept us stuck. With this knowledge we can choose to continue down this road or look at how we might structure our lives for positive change in the areas of relationship, spirituality, finance and more.

(c) After lunch, we’ll have the afternoon free to explore Calistoga, schedule a mud bath, massage, or just wander around town, taking in the sights of this quaint town in the heart of geothermal California.

I’ll be asking the men to hold off on any alcohol or drugs during our time together on Friday until after the evening session.

(d) On Saturday morning we ride west over to the Pacific coast from Calistoga via Calistoga road to Highway 12, to connect to Hwy 101, north to River Rd., west along the Russian River to Guerneville where we pick up Hwy 116 to Jenner. Depending on the time it takes us to get to Jenner, we’ll look at the option of stopping for a break here.

(e) Then from Jenner we ride south on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay and then south on Hwy 1 to Pt. Reyes for a short break. Then we ride Petaluma Rd to Novato Boulevard and back to our hotel in Novato.

(f) After breakfast at the Courtyard Marriott in Novato, we’ll do a short pre ride briefing, then leave at 9 a.m. We ride Hwy 101 south, through San Francisco to Hwy 35, Skyline Boulevard, south to Alice’s restaurant, a well known San Francisco bay area motorcyclists mecca. We’ll have brunch here on our own, hang out, kick some tires and ogle some exotic machinery.

Then we leave Alice’s, ride down Hwy 84 through the mountains to the Pacific Coast Hwy 1, turn north and ride Hwy 1 back through San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge and back to Novato.

In Novato, we’ll make sure every man is taken care of, rental bikes returned, etc. We’ll also arrange for follow up coaching for men who want that. Then we say our goodbyes.

(11) How’s this going to change my life?

You’ll become aware of how you set your life up to this point. This awareness, coupled with the tools you learn to use on the quest will allow you to make necessary changes in your life.

Riding with a group of men who’ve come together with the intention to take a look at our lives on a quest of this nature, doing what we love to do, begins a process of powerful change.

(12) What happens after the Quest is over?

We’ll be doing a follow up group phone call within two weeks after the quest is over. We’ll also be doing personal coaching for men who want to take advantage of that offer.

After the phone call each man will decide what he needs and if he wants to continue the coaching process. If he feels complete after his quest, he might want to sign up for a future quest or he might want to just ride off into the sunset with our blessing.

(B) The Father and Son Motorcycle Quest©

This itinerary is essentially the same as the Ride of Your Life© but the content is very different, as you might expect. We’re working on prices for the Father and Son Quest© and will have them available within a couple of weeks on this site.
